India based covid-19 vaccine, Covaxin, does not approved from the WHO's Emergency Use Listing till now.
Vaccinators against COVID-19 by Covaxin might not be allowed to travel internationally till the time it gets approved through WHO. As of now it is only approved by 9 countries.
Simultaneously, Covishield (also India based vaccine) has been approved by approx 130 countries globally.
Point to be noted here is that a proposal regarding Covaxin approval has already been sent to WHO by Bharat Biotech, the revert against proposal by WHO shows that "more details is required" in the context. As of now, around 2 crore people in India have been vaccinated by Covaxin. WHO's approval will also mean that other countries in need of COVID-19 vaccination can also import the vaccine from India. Indian government said that, a number of countries have expressed interest in Covaxin.
Foreign Secretary of India Harsh Shringla will co-opeate Bharat Biotech in a bid to fasten the WHO approval process against Covaxin.
This awaited approval by WHO might affect travel plans of several Indians vaccinated with Covaxin. Number of countries are in a mood to restart travel and open borders to international treavellers. It is expected that most of the countries will be following WHO's approved vaccine list while opening their borders for international arrivals, the list that does not include Covaxin yet, So it may be a source of disappointment for India travellers.
