The Kerala government has decided to mention passport numbers in vaccine certificates to make travel hassle-free for travellers.
Many Kerala employees working in the Gulf and other countries are facing problems regarding vaccine certificates. Therefore, the state government decided to provide a special certificate, which would include the passport number and the name of the vaccine, in the certificate.
Several countries around the world have made it mandatory to obtain a valid COVID vaccination certificate for travel clearance. A special certificate format has also been approved and authorized by the state as these countries are only accepting certificates with passport numbers.
1) The details of the ID proof used at the time of CoWIN registration will be entered in the Vaccine Certificate.
2) To avoid confusion about the name of the vaccine, the new certificate format will have the names of both Covishield and manufacturer AstraZeneca.
3) Similarly, in view of the problems faced by the people due to the sudden change in the schedule of the second dose of covidshield vaccine, the government will allow travelers to take the vaccine as per the earlier schedule.
Although the CoWIN portal does not allow people to schedule their vaccination before 12 weeks of the first dose (in the case of Covishield), the decision was taken after a special request by people who are at risk of losing their jobs abroad.
