West Bengal government extends covid-induced restrictions across the state till July 15, 2021 amid the fear of new variant of covid-19 ie; Delta.

With the emerging cases of Covid Delta and Delta Plus variants, several state governments have extended the ongoing lockdown, albeit with some relaxations. 

According to the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 45,951 new coronavirus infections, taking the total number of covid-19 cases to 3,03,62,848 while the daily death toll remained below 1,000.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday called on his Council of Ministers to work towards creating an environment in the country in which everyone diligently follows the coronavirus protocols and vaccines to prevent the third wave of the pandemic.

Underlining that the fight against covid-19 is not over yet, Modi told the ministers that vaccination should be done on a stricted manner.


List of states that have increased or relaxed the Covid-19 counts


Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh government has extended the curfew relaxation for three more hours from July 1 in eight of the 13 districts where the covid-19 positivity rate has dropped below 5 percent.

Kerala

The Kerala government has decided to extend the ongoing covid-19 lockdown restrictions for another week. The new restrictions will come into effect from today.

Nagaland

A notification said that a 10-day unlock will start from today after one and a half months of lockdown imposed in view of the increase in the cases of corona virus in Nagaland. The repeatedly extended lockdown, imposed on May 14, ended on Wednesday, after which Unlock-1 will come into force from July 1-10, 2021.

Punjab

The Punjab government has further relaxed the covid-19 restrictions, allowing bars, pubs and inns to reopen with 50 per cent capacity from July 1, 2021.

West Bengal

The West Bengal government has extended the restrictions imposed due to coronavirus in the entire state till July 15. However, additional discounts have been given.
