Mumbai's Airport Authority removed the requirement of mandatory negative RT-PCR test result for tourists visiting Maharashtra.

The decision comes in the light of the fact that some passengers who fly to Delhi or other business places in the morning and return on the same day could not get the RT-PCR test done.

Iqbal Singh Chahal, BMC Municipal Commissioner said, "In view of the above, the domestic passengers who are fully vaccinated may be exempted from carrying negative RT-PCR test report while arriving in the city of Mumbai,"

Meanwhile, people who have not been fully vaccinated against covid-19 will have to follow the RT-PCR test rules to enter the state.

Mumbai Airport Guidelines

  1. On May 12, the Maharashtra government had banned domestic travelers coming to the state.
  2. As per the order, any passenger arriving by any mode of transport was required to undergo a negative RT-PCR test 48 hours before commencing the journey.
  3. The Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation issued instructions related to domestic passengers coming to Mumbai city.
  4. These restrictions were mainly imposed on passengers coming from Gujarat, Goa, Delhi, Rajasthan and Kerala.
  5. Due to the increase in the number of cases, it was decided to ban all travelers coming to Mumbai from any part of the country.
