Several countries are reopening for Indian tourists who wish to enter their borders for non-essential travel and Maldives will soon be a part of the list.
In June, the Maldivian government announced that it would issue tourist visa on arrival to South Asian travelers from July 15, 2021. Indian travellers were also included in the list.
Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohameffd Solih announced in June that the archipelago was reopening its borders to South Asian countries from July 15, 2021.
This announcement is good news for all the travel enthusiasts as Maldives is one of the most sought after destinations for Indian tourists.
Travel requirements for Maldives
- No mandatory quarantine on arrival for those showing no symptoms on arrival. However, all passengers except one year olds will have to produce a negative RT-PCR before arrival for entry.
- Individuals will be exempted from mandatory travel quarantine within the Maldives if they have completed two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine two weeks prior to the date of their travel. They will have to submit a negative RT-PCR test taken 96 hours before the journey to the authorities.
- One must submit a health declaration on the Maldives Immigration Portal 24 hours prior to arrival, download the Maldives contact tracing app TraSeeKey, and wear a face mask in public.
- To enter, Indian nationals arriving in the country as a tourist do not require any pre-arrival visa. You must have a valid passport with a validity of at least 1 month from the date of your expected departure.
For non-tourist visitors travelling to an inhabited island, they must undergo a 14-day self-quarantine upon arrival on the island.
