Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has been adjudged the best airport in India and Central Asia. With this the airport has been adjudged the best airport for the third year in a row.
The airport was announced by the Skytrax World Airport Awards. Considered the most important award for the airport industry, Delhi has been selected based on the votes of the customers in the survey.
Skytrax is known for assessing customer service and facilities at over 550 airports worldwide. IGIA Airport was established in Delhi in 1986, and is today a major airport for international connectivity in India.
Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said, "Our agile and effective response to the pandemic and crisis preparedness has led us to be recognised by Skytrax."
He further added that by adopting the new-normal, DIAL wants to boost its endeavor to provide the best airport experience to all its passengers.
Delhi Airport has also received the Covid-19 Airport Excellence Award. Its ranking has also improved, reaching 45th place in the world's top 50 airports in 2021. Last year IGI Airport was ranked 50th.
