The Goa government has announced to extend the ongoing coronavirus curfew till August 9, 2021 due to the ongoing Delta variant of Coronavirus in the country. Earlier, the government had said that the lockdown would end on August 2.
But, on Sunday, the administration issued a new extension order. It has been said in the order that all restrictions related to corona virus in the state will continue till further notice. It also said that no new relaxation has been given in the state.
Previously, Goa announced the reopening of its hotels after the state reported a drop in the number of coronavirus cases. The positivity rate in the state fell below 5 percent, but tourist shortages and hotel stay rates remained low even after the government allowed entry to fully vaccinated business travelers without any negative reports.
But, after the Goa reported 59 fresh positive cases and one death, the state decided to extend the lockdown.
