Canada government is likely to update its rules allowing RT-PCR testing of air travelers from India at several laboratories accredited by the Indian Council of Medical Research.
Travel between India and Canada is likely to ease soon as Ottawa is likely to ease restrictions related to Coronavirus testing . Travel advisory for India that is in force limits pre-departure testing to a single laboratory of the company Genstrings located at the Delhi airport.
Passengers have to provide a negative test result before they are allowed to board for any Canadian destination, taking up to eight or nine hours for those connecting to Delhi to take the test and receive the result.
Another relaxation that is expected is that there is a mandatory requirement for passengers arriving from India to be tested in a third country if they are catching a connecting flight to Canada.
New guidelines stated that, "Passengers who travel from India to Canada via an indirect route still need to provide a pre-departure negative Covid-19 molecular test result from a third country before continuing their journey to Canada."
Canada still warned against any non-essential travel abroad because of concerns over the Omicron version of the coronavirus.
