In view of the rising cases of Omicron in the country, several Indian airlines have cancels their flight operations amid low demand for air travel and cases of cancellations.

Almost every airline has also decided to offer free rescheduling and is offering free change of flights till January 31.

Several large airlines are following the lead and making similar announcements to reduce capacity and waive rescheduling charges, among other features. Airlines including Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet and AirAsia India have already announced waiver of ticket rescheduling charges.

Air India announced that it will allow one free change on all its domestic flight bookings, while AirAsia has extended its rescheduling offer and for travel till March 31, 2022, for all flight bookings made till January 31, 2022. Allowing for free rescheduling.

IndiGo stated that, "We anticipate that around 20 percent of our current scheduled operations will be withdrawn from service." Also they have decided to waive conversion charges and are offering free date change for all existing and new bookings till January 31, 2022 for flights booked up to March 31, 2022.

SpiceJet, on the other hand, has announced its free date change offer, Suvidha for passengers. The airline is allowing one-time waiver of change fee on all international and domestic flight tickets, but the request must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure.
