Emirates has introduced an upgrade to its inflight connectivity, allowing all passengers, regardless of travel class, to enjoy some form of free Wi-Fi when they sign up for Emirates Skywards.
This increase has enabled an additional 30,000 economy class passengers to avail complimentary onboard Wi-Fi every week. Emirates has been a pioneer in inflight Wi-Fi and has so far invested over US$300 million in onboard connectivity, which is at the forefront of technological advancements.
How to Access Free Wi-Fi in Airlines
To access the free Wi-Fi, passengers need to join Emirates Skywards, the airline's loyalty program. Skyward members that include Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers traveling in Economy, Premium Economy, Business or First Class can sign up for free online or through the Emirates app.
Once connected, passengers can connect to a Wi-Fi network and browse the Internet, check email or access social media for free.
The introduction of free connectivity has received a positive response from Emirates passengers since the change comes into force in January 2023. The airline now sees an average of 450,000 users per month, representing a 30% increase in passenger usage compared to the same period last year.
